286:150 California appeals court and federal trial court in California reach differing results as to whether state survival statute, in limiting damages available to the estates of decedents, conflicted with the purposes of federal civil rights law and could be applied to so limit recovery in such cases brought within the state Garcia v. Superior Court, 49 Cal.Rptr.2d (Cal App. 1996); Williams v. City of Oakland, 915 F.Supp. 1074 (N.D.Cal 1996).
