Prof. Fred E. Inbau Memorial Amicus Curiae Center
The friend of the courtprogram was begun in 1967 by AELE founder Fred E. Inbau (1909-1998). Since then, AELE has appeared as a friend of the court more than 100 times in the U. S. Supreme Court, and more than 40 times in state and federal courts.
Our principal interests are the Fourth and Fifth Amendments, e.g., search and seizure, exclusionary rule reform, and application of the Miranda decision. AELE briefs are typically joined by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the National Sheriffs Association (NSA). Other organizations such as the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA) have joined us in many cases where our interests coincided.
