DR. SUE CARTER COLLINS, PH.D., JD


About the instructor: DR. SUE CARTER COLLINS is the founder and President of Executive Services Network, Inc., a diversified management training and consulting firm. She specializes in race and gender discrimination, sexual harassment investigations, and human resource training.

An active member of the Florida Bar since 1984, Dr. Collins is an experienced police management attorney, law enforcement trainer, and expert witness on sexual harassment and race and gender issues. She is also a Florida Supreme Court certified mediator and arbitrator and has held numerous criminal justice positions including deputy sheriff, investigator, assistant public defender, assistant state attorney, and senior police legal advisor for a large metropolitan police agency.

Dr. Collins is currently employed as an Assistant Professor at the Georgia State University Department of Criminal Justice in Atlanta, Georgia. Her academic interests include race/ethnicity and gender issues and criminal justice policy. She is currently conducting extensive research on sexual harassment, police use of force, and race-based policing.

A long term resident of Tallahassee, Florida, Dr. Collins received the Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology and Corrections from Florida State University in 1973, and the Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Rollins College in 1978. She attended Florida State University College of Law and served on the FSU Law Review prior to obtaining the Juris Doctor degree in 1983. She was awarded the prestigious McKnight Fellowship to attend the doctoral program in Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida State University in 1994, and received the Doctor of Philosophy degree in 2000.
