court affirms verdicts for two women firefighters of $265,000 for not being
issued protective clothing designed for females, and another $70,000 for
retaliation. Wedow v. City of Kansas City, #04-1443, 2006 U.S. App. Lexis

OSHA review panel overturns DOL effort
to force employers to pay for mandated clothing of a "personal"
nature; case involved safety shoes and gloves. Secretary of Labor v. Union

Colorado Supreme Court rejects damage suit
brought by a corrections worker who was taken hostage. Constitution does
not guarantee a safe environment for prison employees. Henderson v. Gunther,

Court dismisses 8 criminal counts of reckless
conduct brought against city; officers were allegedly endangered by deficient
radios and cars. People v. City of East St. Louis, St. Clair Co. Cir. Ct.

35.
Court refuses to enjoin assignment to transit
police to allegedly hazardous facilities. McKechnie v. N.Y. City Transit
Police Dept., 515 N.Y.S.2d 48 (A.D. 1987).
Disciplinary suspension of police officer
who refused demonstration duty without helmet upheld; no serious danger
