HOW TO USE THIS LAW LIBRARY OF CASE SUMMARIES
Case summaries are put a principal category,
although some entries are duplicated in more than one category. Users need to
scroll the topics, from beginning to end, to familiarize themselves with the
Alpha Listings, and to cross-check other categories. AELE periodicals were
published exclusively in print format until 2001; since then, they have been
published online. The abbreviations for our periodicals are: FP for the Fire
and Police Personnel Reporter, LR for the AELE Law Enforcement Liability
Reporter, and JB for the AELE Jail and Prisoner Law Bulletin.
Prior to 2002, the more recent entries list
the page number where the article appeared in a former print edition; [1993 FP
51] means page 51 in the 1993 volume of the Fire and Police Personnel Reporter.
271:102 means page 102 in issue No. 271 of the periodical for that Digest (LR
or JB).
Starting in 2002, all three publications were
published entirely online, and have an electronic citation for each monthly
issue, such as 2002 LR Jan, 2003 FP Feb or 2004 JB Mar.
Entries that were not the subject of full
articles are noted by {N/R}, which means “Not Reported.” Those additional
summaries were added to assist the editors and users with their research. A few
older entries have a “EHL&B” notation indicating the case was discussed in
Employment Health Law & Benefits (1986-1994).
